Customers Not Added to Mailchimp eNewsletter

Thanks for the extension, but your previous extension was much better! One very annoying feature, is that with the new extension, if a customer buys from our store, there is simply no way to add that customer to a mailchimp list to receive an email newsletter (i.e. Email Marketing). They are only added to mailchimp list as an ecommerce customer and can only receive transactional emails. It is impossible to change that, unless you manually re-enter every customers email and allow them to get email marketing. We have checked off "Subscribe all customers to the newsletter" in the Ecommerce part of the extension, but that doesn't seem to do anything. So now all we have our customers that can get transactional emails.

Please fix this. It is useless to use this extension, if we cannot have customers be subscribed for both Email Marketing in Mailchimp and also for Transactional emails.

Hi Sam,

thanks for your contact.
In MageMonkey this was possible thanks to "Subscribe On Checkout" option.
The paradigm changed with API 3.0 of Machimp and a lot of things changes. We are working hard to try to replicate all the MageMonkey features in MailChimp4Magento (that's not easy, MageMonkey has years of development).
We really very sorry that you think that the extension is useless, we have a lot off information to manage your customer communications and analyze your ecommerce data
In order to this point, we will discuss it with Mailchimp.

Thanks for the answer. Yes, MageMonkey was great and we used it alot. We'll keep an eye on future updates of the new extension, but quite frankly Mailchimp made a big error here forcing everyone to upgrade. The previous extension was better and we've had to just turn off the new extension because it was messing up our list that we actually built with Magemonkey. Best.

Thank you for your comment.
That is your opinion, very respectable of course, but we do not agree. M4M is fully ecommerce oriented and take advantage from all the new Mailchimp features. We think is a great approach
We really expect that you try and love the ecommerce integration experience via Mailchimp

We too have been forced to switch to the new module and are having the same issue. Customers that has have click subscribe to newsletter at the checkout and are in magento's "Newsletter Subscribers" are showing as "This person is only eligible for transaction emails." in mailchimp. Is there no fix for this?

Hi Patrick,

thanks for your contact.
If a customer purchase something in your store but is not a subscriber, is added in mailchimp as a customer, that is you can send automation emails like abandoned cart, but not a campaign.

Hi Gonzalez

You miss understand, the customer is a subscriber in magento, but mailchimp says they are not a subscriber. I think this all started when I turned "eCommerce" on I have now turned it off but still users who are marked subscriber in magento and not in mailchimp

I completely agree. We've recently updated from MageMonkey to MailChimp for Magento.

85% of our customers checkout as guests, but may have ticked the "Subscribe to newsletter" on the checkout page and be subscribed in Magento. However with the update, they are only eligible to receive transactional emails in MailChimp.

This is a huge issue for us, as a major challenge is to get customers to re-purchase and email is a great tool for that.

If you only work on one thing, PLEASE fix it so that all customers can be sent to MailChimp as email marketing subscribed.

Hello,

You can force every customer to be subscribed in the Subscribe all customers to the newsletter configuration field.
The checkout subscription will be added as soon as possible.

Kind Regards,
Santiago.

Checking off "Subscribe all customers to the newsletter" does not put any customers in the "email marketing" list. It merely adds them to the list chosen in the extension, but they are are added only as transactional emails, not email marketing. This is either intentional or a bug in the software. The functionality totally screwed up our lists and we turned off the extension. The only workaround I have for this, is to simply create a new list to send all customers to from the extension, and then use the old list for email marketing. Then you must simply manually upload all new customers to the email marketing list (via export extensions - there are many of them - we use xtento) before you send another email.
