Hello,

If you have trouble installing the extension, like it not showing in the Magento admin panel and/or throwing errors of the kind Class 'Ebizmarts_MailChimp' not found or similar, below are the basic things to check:

Firstly:

For the moment at least, don't try to install the module via connect, it doesn't work, just install the files manually uploading via FTP, as explained in this extract from the Mailchimp page:

To install this file in Magento, you’ll clone the ZIP repository to your root directory, and flush the Magento cache. If you need help with this, contact your developer or Magento expert.

Paste Files into Folders

Refer to this chart to see where the ZIP download files should go in your Magento root directory.

Folder Name
MailChimpForMagento/app
MailChimpForMagento/js
MailChimpForMagento/lib
MailChimpForMagento/skin

Corresponding Directory Folder
Root directory/app
Root directory/js
Root directory/lib
Root directory/skin

After you update the root directory, flush the Magento cache.

Possible problem with our module:

There is a package that some of you might have that has a problem with the following files:

lib/Ebizmarts/Mailchimp
lib/Ebizmarts/Mailchimp.php
app/code/community/Ebizmarts/Mailchimp

The problem is that the 'Mailchimp' word in the mentioned paths have a 'c' instead of a capital 'C', causing an error when trying to detect the module. This was already corrected so you just have to re-download the package from the store or if you still have trouble there, from the GitHub repository here: https://github.com/mailchimp/mc-magento/releases

Note: Until version 1.1.9.1 the issue with the directory names seems to be present on the extension downloaded from the Marketplace, this should be resolved completely from version 1.1.10 that will be released on November 2017.

First delete the old files and folders (to avoid having duplicates) and then upload the new ones that should look like the following:

lib/Ebizmarts/MailChimp
lib/Ebizmarts/MailChimp.php
app/code/community/Ebizmarts/MailChimp

Possible problems with Magento:

1. Permissions: For whatever reason, sometimes permissions on files and/or folders are modified when working with Magento (installing/uninstalling modules or doing general maintenance), so triple-check everything is correctly set using this as a reference: http://devdocs.magento.com/guides/m1x/install/installer-privileges_after.html

2. Cache: Might sound obvious, but it is common to forget flushing the Magento caché, this can be done from the admin panel or deleting/renaming the folder located at magento/var/cache

Also, if you are using any kind of external cache make sure to clean it as well please.

3. Compilation: When it is a problem with compilation generally causes the site or certain pages to crash, code 500 errors are common, or messages about not finding certain files. This is because when compilation is enabled and a modification is made, a re-compilation is required for Magento to be aware there were modifications made. You can re-compile or disable compilation from the Magento admin panel, or if you already have the site not accesible, you can try reverting the changes you have made to restore the site, or delete the contents of the folder magento/includes/src

4. 404 error: If after installing the module you go to System>Configuration>Mailchimp and see a 404 page, you just have to log out and login again, that works in 95% of the cases, happens just the first time.

Your extension has an issue - the folder is named Ebizmarts/Mailchimp but all references to the extension in the files is MailChimp. The C is capitalized - in my case the extension would not install until I changed the folder to MailChimp

Yes, this is what is I explained above, it isn't an issue with the current version of the extension though, but with a specific package we once released.

This has already been fixed but because the possibility that you still have the package with this issue exists is that I made this sticky thread explaining how to solve it.

Best regards

Tried to install from the download page and from connect.
It thinks it is installed but it adds a new section at the bottom of the connect page.

How exactly did you install the module?

It can't be installed via connect.

At me for example at all there were no problems with installation of this module. Maybe you somehow wrongly try to install it?

We're still having an issue with the settings not showing under Configuration.

I've repaired all the permissions. Installed the module manually via FTP (first tried using the Connect Key, but that just created a Channel in Magento Connect).

Using v 1.1.8 on Magento CE 1.9.2.1.

The extensions shows as Enabled under System > Advanced, but no configuration panel shows.

It can't be installed via connect, only manually.

Have you checked that the directory MailChimp and the file MailChimp.php at lib/ have a capital C?

As an additional check, can you make sure the directory at app/code/community/Ebizmarts/MailChimp/ has a capital C as well?
